What is
Ayurveda?
A different way of looking at health
Ayurveda is an ancient system of wisdom that teaches us how to live in greater harmony with ourselves and with nature. Originating in India over 5,000 years ago, the word Ayurveda means ‘science of life’.
For me, Ayurveda is about coming home to yourself. Reconnecting with your body’s natural intelligence, understanding your own nature, honouring where you are in this season of life and discovering simple ways to feel more balanced, more resilient and more at ease. And I'd love to share this beautiful tradition with you!
Ayurveda doesn't ask us to become someone different or strive for perfection. Instead, it encourages us to notice what's happening in our bodies, minds and lives, and to make small, supportive changes that help us feel more balanced.
I love how Ayurveda recognises that we're all unique. There's no single diet, routine or way of practising yoga that works for everyone. What helps one person thrive may not suit someone else. I find that incredibly refreshing in a world that's full of ‘one size fits all’ advice!
The Seasons
In today’s world it’s easy to become disconnected from the natural rhythms that help us thrive. But Ayurveda reminds us that we are part of nature, not separate from it. Just as the seasons change, we change too. Our energy, digestion, emotions and needs naturally shift throughout the year and at different stages of life. Rather than fighting against those changes, Ayurveda teaches us how to work with them.
Ayurveda and yoga
Traditionally, yoga and Ayurveda have always gone hand in hand. Yoga helps us connect with ourselves and cultivate inner calm through movement, breath and awareness, while Ayurveda provides practical guidance for how we care for ourselves every day. Together, they offer a holistic approach that supports both body and mind.
In my Ayurvedic yoga classes, you'll experience more than physical postures. Alongside yoga, I share simple Ayurvedic principles that you can easily incorporate into everyday life, helping you to understand your own body more deeply and develop habits that support lasting wellbeing, with tools that can help you feel more energised, sleep more deeply, manage stress with greater ease, or just feel more like yourself.
If you're curious about Ayurveda but don't know where to begin, you're in the right place. You don't need any previous knowledge, just an open mind and a willingness to explore.

The Three Doshas
One of the best-known ideas in Ayurveda is the concept of the three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These are patterns or qualities found throughout nature and within each of us.
We all have a unique combination of these energies, which influences everything from our body and digestion to our energy levels, sleep and emotional tendencies.
Understanding these natural tendencies helps you make choices that bring you back into balance when life pulls you off course.
